The Journey Begins

The journey from no belt to Black Belt can be a very exciting time in a person's life.  There's a great sense of pride and accomplishment as your Taekwondo skills develop, stamina improves, and your overall body control increases.  In many ways, this early stage in your training is similar to navigating your way through K-12 grade.  You've amassed a great volume of knowledge, and through practice have begun to consider how different movements can be used in conjunction with each other for specific purposes.  As a 1st Degree Black Belt, your focus will now be on retaining and refining what you've learned and also sharing that knowledge with junior-ranked students.

One of the most attractive and exciting aspects of Taekwondo are the acrobatic kicks long associated with this art.  As a Black Belt, you will begin to learn the fundamental aspects of these high-level kicking techniques.  Flexibility, balance, jumping ability, and timing all play important roles in how effectively these techniques are performed.  And since we all have different physical make-ups, it's important to work extra hard to identify which areas may need extra attention in order to achieve your goals.

Be persistent in your efforts, and let the journey begin!
